Hey all,
here is another one I have. This is the first sled I ever got. I purchased this off a guy near Orillia for $100 who had it in his barn. It was a heap, with a broken hood and other issues but it was all there and the engine wasn't ceased or blown or anything (although I did blow the engine up myself once after). I took it back home and brought it back to life over the summer.
I stripped it down the the frame, rebuilt the motor, repaired the hood and everything else, made a new seat and did some custom touches. This was the first sled I ever fixed so it was a learning process as well.
This sled is fast for it's age! and can really take off well, all due to it's lightness of course compared to anything newer like my 2000 skidoo formula 500. I hadn't really well it the deep snow and floats through the fields and drifts. It's a fun ride as it is so easy to throw around in the powder. It often surprises me how a sled with so little lug and suspension clearance can handle deeper snow like that.
Currently this sled is out of commission until I get some new condensers for the magneto and really restore to top notch condition. I will be doing a restoration on this sled maybe in 2 years.
At the time I did the rebuild one of my good friends was riding a polaris and got a sticker for his snow flap that said 'bite me skidoo boy' so naturally my answer was to put an even bigger one on the front of mine that said "what's worse than drinking from the toilet? riding a polaris". I think i won the battle.
cheers,
Dave
